Deb Gee


Deb got into the events industry by accident but fell in love with it instantly. She loves the feeling of seeing a finished event through the eyes of attendees and how powerful it is for a company to have their staff in one room for staff morale and to showcase the company’s vision or to have members of an organisation together for human connection. She has now been in the industry for over 20 years.

Deb hired Activities & Events Unlimited for some theming work many moons ago as a young event manager and then after a stint overseas, in 2021 purchased the business with the passion for the industry and a vision to grow the business to be the best in New Zealand!

“He aha te mea nui o te ao. What is the most important thing in the world? He tangata, he tangata, he tangata. It is the people, it is the people, it is the people. I love bringing people together and seeing people experience new things through their eyes. After all the organisation and planning is complete, the real enjoyment for me is watching all of the moving parts come together, it is totally addictive!”.

When she is not working, you’ll find her horse-riding, spending time with her daughters, and getting outdoors for a run or to the beach.

Shay has recently joined our team as the Operations Manager, bringing a wealth of skills from various industries. With extensive experience in national roles and directorships in sales and operations within the building industry, including sawmilling, manufacturing, and timber merchants, Shay is thrilled to now be part of the events’ industry. Working alongside inspiring individuals, Shay has also organized tours for renowned musicians from New Zealand and Australia.

Customer service is at the core of Shay’s values, alongside a strong commitment to organisational excellence. We are incredibly excited to have Shay as part of our amazing team, collaborating to create extraordinary events throughout New Zealand.

Outside of work, Shay is happily married to Chrissie, and together they have three children. They enjoy travelling in their camper van, indulging in hot pools during winter and relaxing on the beach during summer. Additionally, Shay loves attending live music shows across New Zealand.

Demelza Smith

Business Development

Demelza has worked on the other side of the industry for many years and is a relative newcomer to the “behind the scenes” of events. She worked for many years around the world with a number of players in the Healthcare and Medical fields in business development and sales roles. She dabbled a bit in the events industry and loved it, so when the opportunity came to work within the industry, she grabbed it! She’s been with Activities & Events Unlimited since April 2021, coming over with Deb and Daniela.

Demelza says of her love for events: “I just love the process, the feeling when it all comes together, and you help to create a truly memorable event for your client. No two days are the same, and while we may go to a venue a number of times, the client and the other companies you work with make it a unique experience every time.”

On the weekends, she loves to hang out with her family at the beach, take a walk through some of the beautiful spots in our region, or cook up a storm.

Fun fact: She secretly loves the piano accordion!

Ayla is a creative individual who brings a vibrant energy to every event she works on. Whether it’s designing the initial concept or managing the entire project, she never misses an opportunity to create unforgettable experiences for our clients.

Her experience in Customer Service and Administration, allows her to excel in both hands-on creativity and event management. She combines her artistic skills with her organisational abilities, resulting in coherent and visually stunning events.

In her spare time, she loves learning new things and experimenting with DIY projects. You will find her involved in any type of craft or art activity, theming her friends and family’s birthday celebrations, adding that extra touch of magic to their special day.

Nella Martin

Event Manager

Nella brings a fresh perspective and a team-oriented mindset to her role. She’s amazing at creating eye-catching centrepieces, designing props, and making sure our clients are happy. She’s a natural problem solver who thrives under pressure and always goes above and beyond to meet our clients’ expectations.

Nella is passionate about turning your ideas into reality and takes great pride in delivering memorable events. Whether you’re throwing a small, intimate gathering or going all out for a big celebration, Nella is determined to make your ideas come to life.

When she’s not working, Nella enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing tag with her babies, attending school sports and has a real passion for Lash and Brow artistry.  

Kate is our friendly dedicated Executive Assistant. Her experience is across the education and corporate sectors, within small family-owned businesses and supporting top-tier CEOs of listed financial services firms throughout New Zealand and Australia. Kate brings valuable insights as an accomplished administrator and Executive Assistant. In her role, Kate ensures the smooth and efficient functioning of both the business and our Managing Director.

During her spare time, Kate loves to find herself in the garden at her home in sunny Tauranga which she shares with her husband, 3 beautiful young boys, and a little white dog. Always approachable, please don’t hesitate to reach out

Natalie is our in-house Marketing Specialist and Brand guru. You will find her strategising, delivering our marketing plan, running campaigns, behind our social media platforms and transforming our website.

She has a diverse background from Biomedical Science through to Operational Management which brings a new perspective, detail orientation and a process driven approach to the business. Marketing is in her blood, and she has a real passion for digital transformation and customer experience.

When she’s not working, you will find her travelling the world, experiencing new things and being out of her comfort zone. She loves being creative, spending time with family and friends and keeping fit and active.
